The style contest has been very exciting, with Alicia taking one of the first few leads. Yet we know very little of Alicia (compared to our other contestants), so she is a very mysterious Speedy Girl. But all that changes today, because for our last feature in this contest, we interviewed Alicia to get a closer glimpse into her life. And we're sure you'll like her even more!

Hi Alicia!

Could you tell us about the outfit you chose to put together and why?
I picked out the cropped top because polka dots and bows are two of my favorite things! I put together a casual outfit for an outing with my family. When I styled it, I knew that I would be out and about all day, so I kept it simple. The top looked perfect paired with skinny jeans and boots. I threw on a white cami underneath and wore a light sweater when it was chilly in the shade.

How would you describe your style?
My professional wardrobe is governed by pretty strict rules, so my personal style tends to lean toward casual/comfortable clothing. I love spending my weekends in jeans and boots, so that I can throw aside skirts and dresses for a few days!

My husband is closest to me currently - he would describe me as 'vintage' and 'creative.' I'm not quite sure what that means and he's not elaborating (the Detroit Tigers game is on, no time for questions!), so that's what you get folks ;)

This is a tough one - if we're talking strictly material things then I have to say my iphone, my sewing machine (even though it's rarely used!) and my local craft/fabric store. I surf my phone for creative inspiration and DIYing/crafting helps me relax and forget about my sometimes-crazy school and work schedule!

On a beautiful day, where would we be able to find you?
Cruising the neighborhood for estate sales and thrifting. I love the thrill of the hunt and each shopping trip is like an adventure! I never know what I am going to find!

If you could pick the century you were born in, which century would you pick and why?
I would pick the late 19th century (like 1899) so that I would be in my 20s in the 1920s. I am so inspired by the fashion and lifestyle of the 20s and wish I could have lived through that era!

Today’s featured blogger is the superfantabulousomazinglycolorful Suze, or better known as Miss Vinyl Ahoy.

Suze is our collaborator for this Speedy Girl in Michigan! contest, and she has been a complete sweetheart at helping to coordinate the details and bring everyone together (Thank you Suze!!). The idea for this contest actually came about because Suze was planning a blogger meet/swap in Michigan. We liked the idea, and wanted to sponsor some outfits for the event. Because we love our Michigan girls so much, we thought, hey, why not extend the event by having a little styling contest?

So here we are, and we thought it perfect to feature Suze as the first contestant to get the ball rollin’, and let’s find out a bit more about her!

Could you tell us about the outfit you chose to put together and why?

I put this outfit together based around the boots and the top. It’s really a dress, but because I’m tell, it’s a little short on me, so I wore it like a tunic.

How would you describe your style?

I’m pretty colorful, eclectic and I adore vintage silhouettes.

I love my husband, cats and books. My husband is the nicest person I know and knows me the best. My cats are adorable and love to cuddle and don’t talk back, and I always find myself getting lost in a good book.

On a beautiful day, where would we be able to find you?

If it’s sunny, indoors (I burn easily), or hiding under the shade of a tree reading a book.

What inspired you to begin your blog?

I started my blog because my sister would always ask what I was wearing. So I started texting her photos, then turned them into the blog I have today. I blame it all on her! :)

If you could pick the century you were born in, which century would you pick and why?

I would pick now, because I feel like I have many more choices of being able to be whom I want and I’m able to live my life the way I want to. If I were to pick another era, I wouldn’t have the same freedom and choices, and that would bother me.

Hi Speedy Girls!

We've been brewing, brewing fun projects lately, and here's one that we've been really excited to share, and finally we can! Hurrah! If you have been following us on Twitter, you might have already known about this.

Ready? Drumroll.... *tada*! We have been collaborating with some darling bloggers to be our very special guest blogger buyers! Yay! We know bloggers have the very best taste and we like it when they pick their favorites because we know they'll be your favorites too :)

Hi Speedy Girls!

When it rains, we have to find ways to keep ourselves entertained.... and today was no exception!

So today, as usual, we played Thursday's A Tease on Facebook, and we were going through our random generator websites to pick a winner. All of a sudden, we were struck by the brilliant idea that we could randomly pick a winner the old-fashioned way! Woohoo!

A clap of our hands in excitement, a flurry of activity to find scrap paper, a nice thick marker, and we had our list. Smart, savvy Speedy Girls who know what's up and guessed that the convoluted image was a purse of some sort. Good eyes, girls, good eyes. We were sneaky too, using the lining of the purse to mask the secret item's identity. Hehehe...

Of course, the fairest method to pick someone is to toss all the folded pieces of paper up in the air and let them land haphazardly. Woohoo! Lets use a finger to point to our random winner... Hmm. Who will it be??

And the finger has pointed! Jamie was the chosen Speedy Girl! Yay! Congrats Jamie! Angel *woofs* in approval! :D

..... and the Speedy Girls have done it again. What a fun rainy day plan. We need to do more old-fashioned activities that we've allowed the computer do for us. Who knew just picking a winner could be so fun? ;)

Hi Speedy Girls!

Mondays are designed to keep us down, but a good Speedy Girl knows how to keep smiling... but thinking about her next vacation round the corner! Whether you're planning a mini getaway, or you've started thinking about packing for the holidays, just the thought of being somewhere else tends to cheer up dear hearts.

I've been reading 'How to Sew a Button' by Erin Bried, a senior staff writer at SELF magazine. Of course I picked up the book because of the adorable book cover, but when I started reading the book I was totally intrigued! With wonderful tips on how to keep your household wonderfully maintained just like our kindly, efficient grandmothers used to, this book is a dear little keeper! I imagine any Speedy Girl would find gems in it!

Anyway, I wanted to share with our Speedy Girls from a chapter called, 'How to Pack a Suitcase'. For those of us who never had our grandmamas to teach us the wise old ways of packing for a vacation, we might have found ourselves going overboard lugging two or three suitcases.. or arrive blissfully at our vacation before we discover that we forgot to pack an essential part of an outfit!

I'm sure this little excerpt will help.. and if you liked what you read, don't forget to check out the book!

How to Pack a Suitcase

Step 1: Check the weather of your destination, and know your itinerary.

Step 2: Set out your wish list. On your bed, gather all the clothes you'd like to bring with you. Don't forget undies, socks, a bathing suit, PJs, a belt, a going-out outfit, and a couple of sweaters to layer if a chill sets in. Assuming you'll wear your comfy shoes to travel, include at most one or two pairs (e.g. sandals and going out shoes). Then ogle your handiwork for a minute and take a deep breath, knowing you won't really have to carry all that you see.

Step 3: Thin the pack. Ruthlessly, put each piece, with the exception of your undies, socks and favorite going-out dress, to the mix-and-match test. If any item can be worn only as part of a single outfit, put it back in your closet. You can wear it again when you get home.

Step 4: Put all of your toiletries in a plastic bag and lay it in the bottom of your suitcase. Note: If you plan to carry your suitcase on an airplane, place your toiletries in a 1-quart plastic bag (with no more than 3 ounces of liquid per container) and carry it in your purse until you pass through security.

Step 5: Fold each of your pants in half lengthwise and stack them on top of each other from most wrinkle prone (on the bottom) to least (on top). Starting at the bottom of your pants, roll them together until they form a tight cylinder. Place the roll, seam side down, in your suitcase. Repeat process with any T-shirts, tanks, or sundresses.

Step 6: Fold any dressy shirts or jackets and lay them flat on top of your rolls.

Step 7: Stuff your shoes with socks and any other small accessories, like belts, film, or batteries. Then place your shoes in a plastic bag and lay them on top.

Step 8: Roll your undies and tuck them into any remaining available space, preferably not in your shoes.

Step 9: Zip it up and happy trails!

... And that was the complete guide to packing a suitcase!

Hi Speedy Girls!

The weekend is here again! What do you have planned for these last days of sunny weather? Let's see..... we have a pumpkin patch birthday to go to... a cupcake baking get-together.... and OH! the flea market! I need some vintage knobs for my kitchen drawers! There's a vendor selling vintage and vintage reproductions of all things kitchen. :D

I'll spend all weekend in my Awesome Blossom Dress if i could. It's perfect for the still balmy weather and all the outdoor activities we're heading to. Back home, I'll lay out a blanket under the tree with a picnic platter and finish a book with the dogs. They love these healthy oven baked chicken breast sandwiches! Will share recipes soon.
